Supreme Court of India Museum

Laws have existed right from the time of existence of a society. Kautilaya's Arthashastra also mentions about laws. In order to familiarize people about the rich legal heritage of India and the Indian Judicial System, the Supreme Court of India museum was inaugurated in 2004.

Supreme Court Museum exhibits old documents, manuscripts, photographs, original records of landmark trials and artifacts like revolver, bomb shells, etc related to the Indian law system.

About the Museum

The Museum is a round spectacular single pillared building. It has two galleries; one displaying the Indian law system from ancient time to the British era. The other one, portrays the development of the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of India by use of exquisite articles of that time.

Major Attractions

• The Supreme Court of India Museum organizes special exhibitions dedicated to the Indian freedom struggle. In this way, it pays a tribute to the freedom fighters of the country " Trail of Bhagat Singh", "Alipore Bomb Conspiracy Case".
• Screening of film shows on history of Supreme court of India is done on a regular basis.
  
• A 16th century dated document, Deed of Spiritual Succession is on display which was documented on appointment of the son of Syed Shah Ali Qutub, as the successor of hospice.
• Other interest capturing objects include a "Mace", "Oars of Admiralty Courts", "Harappan seals", "Ashokan Edict", "Nalanda Copper Plate".
