How to Reach Red Fort

Red Fort in DelhiIt is very important for one to know how to reach the tourist place, especially if the person is not from that city.

One of the best places to reach Red Fort is by using the metro. The nearest metro station is Chowri bazar. Chandni Chowk metro station is also quite nearby.

Once you reach one of these stations, you can hire an auto or taxi and reach Lal Qila. Tour operators can guide you and reflect on Delhi's rich cultural heritage to give you a little information on the cultural history of this capital city.

Eating and drinking at these metro stations is not allowed. Also, smoking, carrying inflammable materials, hazardous chemicals or animals is restricted. AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) gates detect passengers while they walk through.

You have to show your card or token at the gate while standing at the yellow line marked close to the gate. At the platform, remember to let passengers exit first and then board the train. Do not block the train doors while alighting from the train. The huge red walls you see stretch on the east and west sides and extend to around 2 kms. The height of these walls varies from 60 ft. on the river side to 110 ft. towards the city. Lal Qila has almost 2.5 kms. perimeter with tallest structure of 33 mts.

Unlike other Mughal forts, the layout of boundary walls of Lal Qila is asymmetrical. A giant wall encloses the fort complex with two main entrances: one at the Lahore gate and another at Delhi gate

Lahore gate is actually the chief entrance point and leads to Chatta Chowk or the Meena bazaar where skilled weavers, jewellers and carpet makers showcased their products to ladies living in the palace. Well, now you can look forward to lovely gardens, mosques, Hammams (''royal bathing place''), public halls and architectural extravaganza as you go further inside the fort!

You will get to view Naqqar Khana, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Hayat Bakhsh bagh, Rang Mahal, Nahr-i-Bihisht, Tasbih-Khana, Hammam, Muthamman Burj, Mumtaz Mahal, Khas Mahal, Moti Masjid, Hayat Bakhsh garden and pavilions.
