Role of Directorate of Health Services

The Directorate of Health Services functions under the management of Department of Health and Family Welfare, Delhi. The role of Directorate of Health Services in Delhi is not just limited to active operations in deliverance of quality medical facilities but the directorate also ordinates with other Government and private health institutions with an ultimate objective of improving wellness of citizens of Delhi.

Other Health Systems of DHS

Furthermore, for the purpose of better governance, the Directorate of Health Services has parted the city of Delhi into eight divisions each led by an exclusive Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO). The Chief Medical Officers function in supervising the operations of health centres, which falls under their respective divisions. 

The school health centres primarily provide medical facilities to children of Delhi Government Schools, and the mobile clinics attend the health care demands of slum areas in the city. 

Some of the other primary functions of the Directorate of Health Services in Delhi include Disaster Management, Biomedical Waste Management, Public Grievances, Delhi Govt. Employees Health Scheme (DGEHS), and Cancer Control and so on.

Delhi houses numerous private health care facilities, including super specialty hospitals that are advanced centres equipped with state of the art medical equipments and house highly skilled and dedicated doctors.

Furthermore, hospitals in Delhi are regarded for their distinguished health services, which include comprehensive wellness packages for medical checkups, surgical processes and so on.
