
Construction of Airport Express
The Airport Express line opened on February 23, 2011. Due to certain technical problems services of the line were suspended on 8 July, 2012 and the line again reopened on 23 January, 2013. It is planned to be expanded beyond Dwarka Sector 21 to IFFCO Chowk in Gurgaon.Interchanges are available at IGI Airport Station for IGI Airport, at Dwarka Sector 21 station for Blue Line and at New Delhi Station for Yellow Line and New Delhi Railway Station. Out of the 22.7 km length of the metro line 15.7 km is underground and 7 km from is elevated from Buddha Jayanti Park to Mahipalpur.

There are six stations of Airport Express Line. The stations are:- New Delhi
- Shivaji Stadium
- Dhaula Kuan
- Delhi Aerocity
- IGI Airport (T-3)
- Dwarka Sector 21
- ECC Centre - Dwarka Sector 25
Airport Express Line Fare
The fare for commuting in Airport Express Line is Rs 150 from New Delhi station to IGI Airport and Rs 100 from New Delhi to Dwarka Sector 21. Passes can be used for Dwarka-21 to Shivaji Stadium Station or New Delhi station to IGI Airport. Other such passes are available for different destination combinations. Stored value cards offer are also available which gives 5% discount on all the trips.Ticketing in Airport Express
Tickets for the Airport Express could be purchased from the Ticket counters. Tokens or smart cards are issued at ticket counters. Passes are also reloaded here. For purchase/reloading of tokens/passes you can opt for Token Issuing Machines (TIM). These are automatic ticket vending machines.Airport Express Line Timings
The train services operate from 5:15 am to 11:30 pm with a frequency of 15-minutes. The first train departs at 5:30 AM from New Delhi Station and at 5:15 AM from Dwarka Sec 21. The last train leaves at 11:30 PM from New Delhi Station and at 11:15 PM from Dwarka Sec 21.Security in Airport Express
The security of the Airport Express Line is handled by Central Industrial Security Force. Airport Express line is fitted with state-of-the-art gadgets like explosive detectors, under vehicle scanners, large x-ray baggage scanners, quick reaction teams and dog squads to ensure full security of commuters. The Delhi Airport express is one of the most important transportation systems in Delhi. The Airport express brings a lot of comfort to the passengers. Passengers can enjoy the luxury of lifts, modern automatic fare collection system, porter services and baggage trolleys. Public conveniences and wheel chair facilities are also available at the station. The stations are disabled friendly.
The elevators are specially designed for the convenience of physically challenged people and are capable of carrying stretchers. Help call points are also located at various points of stations for any emergency calls. For the visually impaired persons the elevator buttons have Braille letters. Luggage racks and proper sitting arrangement is maintained in each coach.
Free luggage trolleys are available for passengers at the entry gates and platforms at all the stations. Porters are also available to assist in carrying baggage on the trolleys. Per porter Rs 50 is charged. The service can be availed at platforms or at the entry gates. All the 6 stations along the Express Route are WIFI enabled. WiFi services at all stations along the route have been introduced by the Airport Express line on 13 January 2012.
In case you have lost something you can register your complaints at the customer care counters at all the stations. Customer service representative will record your complain and help you. You can also complain online. Lost and Found form is available. You can submit your complain there.
Check in Facility
Passengers can check in just like they do at the airport. Passengers can get their boarding pass at the city check-in counter and check-in the luggage. The checked-in baggage is transferred to IGI Airport, Terminal 3, through a secured Baggage Handling System.Passengers flying with Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines using T3 terminal as base of operations can check in at the New Delhi Metro Station. Check in can be done anytime before 6 hours to 2 and half hours before departure time. Passengers who fly for international flights also started checking in as the facility started from 22 February 2012.
