Aadhar is the brand name of an initiative of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDIA). On behalf of the national government, the UIDIA has launched Aadhar as a 12-digit identification number for each citizen of India. This number will be used for an Indian citizen’s proof of address and identity, wherever in the country he may live.
Each number will be unique to each individual and will remain live for life. By using this number, you can able to access all kinds of services, such as banking, availing of mobile phone connections, other governmental and non-governmental services. It is mandatory for all citizens of India to have an Aadhar card. It can be used as a ration card or passport is used as proof of identification and address.
Both genders of all ages from all strata of society are eligible for an Aadhar card. It is based on one’s biometric and demographic information, hence ruling out the possibility of any sham activities.
How to register for your Aadhar card in Delhi:
An Indian citizen can go to any of the nearest Aadhar card centers in Delhi and register himself or herself there.
Children and infants are also covered under this initiative. Aadhar registration in Delhi calls for certain documents. These are:
Proof of identity:
For proof of identity, submit any one of the following:
- Passport
- Voter ID
- PAN card
- Photo Bank ATM or Credit Card
- Ration/PDS Card
- Address Card bearing your name and photo issued by the postal department
- Govt. Photo ID
- Kisaan Photo Passbook
- Pensioner Card
- NREGS Job Card
- Freedom Fighter Card
- Arms License
Proof of address:
For proof of address, submit any one of the following:
- Passport
- Bank Statement
- Bank passbook
- Post Office passbook
- Address Card bearing your name and photo issued by the postal department
- Ration Card
- NREGS Job Card
- Photo Bank ATM/Credit Card
- Voter ID/Driver’s License
- Water/Electricity/Telephone landline/Property Tax Receipt
- Freedom Fighter Card
- Credit Card Statement not older than the last three months
- Arms License
- Pensioner Card
- Kissan Photo Passbook
Proof of date of birth:
For proof of date of birth, submit any one of the following:
- Birth certificate
- Passport
- SSLC Certificate
Once you fill out the form completely, confirm your appointment by clicking the Fix Appointment button on the site. You can also download the Aadhar Enrolment Form, fill it up and submit it to your nearest Aadhar Center.

- Your Aadhar card can be used for any system which needs to know each individual belonging to it so that he or she can receive its services or benefits.
- Any agency or service wanting to confirm your identity can check with the central UIDAI database from any part of the country.
- The poor wanting to avail of benefits to them can do so if they have an Aadhar card which bears all their details.
- Banks linked to the UIDAI can directly remit any benefits due to citizens easily and economically.
- Citizens can access the latest information about services, entitlements and other facts by using their individual number.
It draws more of the poor and marginalized people of India into the banking system.
