Sarojini Nagar Market in Delhi

Sarojini Nagar is a shopper's paradise in the true sense of the word. If you have an inclination for fashionable yet affordable clothes, this is the place you should visit. Sarojini Nagar Market was earlier known as Vinay Nagar and Beena Nagar Market. Subsequently, it was named after Indian freedom fighter Smt. Sarojini Naidu. The Swami Vivekananda park near this market was called Fountain Garden or Fuarey wala park a few years back.

How to Reach Sarojini Nagar Market

The nearest Metro Station  is INA Metro Station. It takes Rs.20 from here to the market. You can also take a taxi or auto rickshaw and reach here. The nearest Railway Station is New Delhi Railway Station while Sarai Kale Khan ISBT is the Bus Terminus in the vicinity.

Babu Market

Babu Market comprises mainly of garment shops. Shops such as Mahindra Sweets (Mucchal Halwai ki Dukan), steel utensil shops etc. adorn this market. Other shops are Lalaji ki dukan, Chacha Sarees, Keval ki toy shop, barber shops and a dental clinic. CGHS Dispensary stands just opposite to Babu market. Here, Government servants and their dependants can get a free check up done. Evenings are crowded and cars have to be parked very far from the market due to dearth of parking space for vehicles.

Sabzi Market

Those who love the sight of green vegetables, sabzi bazar is a real treat. Paneer, Papad, bhuni moongphali to broom shops, CD shops - a fine mixture of assorted shops exist which actually intensifies your shopping experience.

Central Market

Central market is a really large market. In this part of the market, you actually move in a circle and after all your window shopping is over, you'll realize that you have landed to where you started from! Shops with front and back opening, street vendors, bakery shops such as Cake n Pastry shop, Paradise Sarees, Mohan Restaurant, Grover Furniture and Atta Chakki  are some shops in this area.

Mandir Wali Side

Hanuman Temple is located on the other side of Central market. Some of the shops near this temple include photograph shops, electronic stores, optical shops, Lahori Restaurant, Ushnak Milk Dairy, Band Box Dry Cleaners and some pharmacy shops. Here, you can have a gala time scrutinizing dresses in branded showrooms such as John Players, Charlie Outlaw, TNG and Cotton County. Towards the north of Central market is a world of shoes waiting for you! You can purchase lovely shoes on sale!  Paul shoes, Photo studio, Om Boot House, Liberty and Bata Shoes, Woodland Shoes and Reebok Shoes are some shops here. You can vouch for affordable leather belts too.

Sarojini Nagar Market: A People's Market

Sarojini Nagar Market is no doubt a people's market, a bargain bazaar for sure. The only prerequisite for a good bargain here is that you should be conversant with prices of various commodities. University students love to come here in groups for window shopping and to buy monthly essential items. You will love to get lost in the back street ''gullies'' inside the market because there also every little space is occupied by vendors selling mala (necklace), churi (bangles), danglers, sandals, cushion covers and hair bands for ladies while knickers, track suits, goggles and socks for men. They sell these items at such throw away prices that you will buy double the number of things you had actually set out to buy!
