The Deputy Commissioner heads the New Delhi district, who has one Additional District Magistrate, two Tehsildars, three Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and one Sub-Registrar under him. The Deputy Commissioners of the New Delhi District reports to Divisional Commissioner.
He is the supervising officer facilitating and advising all his officers for the all administrative work as well as the head of the Revenue Department at the district level.
Functions of New Delhi District
The District Administration carries out several functions including registration of property, magisterial matters, revenue courts, conduct of elections, disaster management, issue of various statutory certificates and documents, relief & rehabilitation, land acquisition and recovery of arrears under Revenue Recovery Act.
The District Administration of New Delhi also looks after other miscellaneous functions given by the government which normally doesn't fall under any other department or functions or which is under more than one department.
Organizational Setup of New Delhi District
The District is headed by the Deputy Commissioner followed by an Additional District Magistrate (ADM). The district has 3 subdivisions, each beingheaded by a Sub Divisional Magistrate which in turn has revenue and clerical staff for its various functions.
For revenue functions each subdivision has the offices of the Tehsildar, the Naib-Tehsildar, the Kanungo and the Patwaris, in that order.
