Despite the busy schedule of the people of Delhi, its citizens still find time to appreciate art through various exhibitions. Pragati Maidan the headquarters of the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) serves as the premier exhibition complex of India. 

This complex has been rated as classic exhibition complex which is a symbol of Modern Fair culture in India. The exhibitions are held at this place since 1952. This was known as fair ground in early days which was lately named as “Pragati Maidan”.  The complex with all facilities holds national and international trade fairs. The exhibitions are conducted with the objective of encouraging and promoting study and research in the fields of creative arts such as painting, photos, handicraft, printing, etc.

The art exhibition is conducted in various parts of Delhi. The art pieces or artwork to be exhibited are selected on the basis of the quality of execution, freshness of images, innovative use of materials, novel application of colour and freshness of stylistic markers in the works.

Delhi has several world renowned painters. Their exhibitions are held all over the city in various galleries. 

In the recent painting exhibition organised by Siddhartha Vashishta Charitable Trust for two-days displays the artwork of Tihar Jail inmates and some upcoming artists. 

The trust was started by Jessica Lall murder convict Siddhartha Vashishta relative Manu Sharma. A painting exhibition named Company Paintings reflects the details of documents major expressions of 19th c. The paintings showcase about Indian Miniatures and European naturalism.

In a recent photo exhibition held between 12th July 2013 till 14th July 2013 in Delhi named “Bastar – A Lost Heritage” focused on retrospective theme of the black-and-white photographs of the 1950s by Ahmed Ali, curated by Renu Rana. The photograph by Mr Ali, currently aged 91, has been working in this field since 1940’s. His works includes portraits of British families, going on to advertising and industrial photography as well.

In a most recent exhibition held on 16th September 2013 named as “Certain Grace- THE SIDI: INDIANS OF AFRICAN DESCENT" by Ketaki Sheth's display the collection of photographs on “Indians of African descent” who from many centuries migrated to India representing the details about community and sensitively.

Various exhibitions are also held at Lalit Kala Academy. Lalit Kala National Academy of Art which is an Artists’ Welfare Trust holds art exhibitions. The National Academy award winners are from different states in India.
