List of Courts in Delhi
The highest court of India, the Supreme Court entertains all types of cases. The cases entertained by district courts or high courts if found eligible are forwarded to Supreme Court. There is a Delhi Legal Aid Authority which provides legal help to public who cannot afford lawyer’s fees.
High Court in India is at the second place heading the entire state jurisdiction. There are about 24 high courts in India with having control over more than one state. Amongst the union territories in India Delhi has its own High Court headed by Chief justice.
Lok Adalats are the agencies that are formed to resolve the disputes using the conciliatory method. They are monitored by the State Legal Aid and Advice Boards.
District Court is headed by Judge in India. These courts fall under the judicial control of the state High Court. The civil jurisdiction and the court session come under District and Session Judge. The three tier system of courts in India takes care of civil and criminal cases.
