Ranthambore National Park located in Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan is one of the largest parks in northern India. The Park was originally established as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in the year 1955 and was declared as one of the Project Tiger reserves of India in the year 1973. It became a national park in 1980 and is popularly known for tigers. Tourists can easily spot tigers even during day time in the park.
Several tiger conservation projects have been taken up in Ranthambore due to the decline of tiger population as a result of poaching.
