Cultural Spirit of Delhi

Delhi’s culture is diverse because of huge influx of migrants from different parts of the country. Being the capital of India, people from different states settle in Delhi. Irrespective of color, caste and creed, Delhi accepts everyone with the same warmth. Its culture is strongly influenced by the neighboring states of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. The impact can be felt in the language of the people, their lifestyle and in their food habits.

Delhi is a fine amalgamation of modern culture and rich tradition. Presence of historical monuments and latest architectural marvels voice the cultural spirit of the state.

People from all religions reside in Delhi. As a result, almost all major festivals are celebrated with equal religious fervor and spirit. Prabhat Feri, Durga Puja, Diwali are the most awaited festivals of Delhi . However, Christmas, Eid and Guru Purab are celebrated with much the same enthusiasm thereby representing the diverse culture in Delhi.

Hindi is the main language spoken in Delhi. However, the tone and pronunciation varies from person to person due to the mixed origin of the people residing in the state. Delhi had always accepted the new and moulded itself with the change in time making it a place worth living.
