Various Health Schemes of Delhi Health System

1.School Health Scheme:

The School Health Scheme, under the control of DHS was initiated by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi in 1979 with an objective of providing intensive health care to school going children.

The main objectives of implementing this scheme are as under:

Objectives:  

  • Promotion of positive health (Health Education)
  • Prevention of diseases (Including Immunization)
  • Early detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases
  • Referral services to higher Health Centers.

2.Mobile Health Scheme:

The migration of people from villages to cities has laid an increase in urbanization. This urbanization is resulting into the development of JJ clusters (Unauthorized colonies formed by migrated population).

Under this Mobile health Scheme, Government aims to provide normal health facilities to people residing in these unauthorized establishments and send mobile dispensaries in JJ clusters on weekly basis.

This scheme was first initiated in 1989 under which 20 mobile dispensaries were sent but the number has increased to appreciative digits by the active interests of various NGO’s.

The current scenario of Mobile Health Scheme is as follows:-
1.      Mobile Health Scheme has been strengthened to a fleet of 90 mobile vans to provide basic health care to J J cluster / unserved areas / construction sites.
2.      Mobile Health Scheme is participating in the implementation of all the relevant health programs like family welfare, immunization etc
3.      Mobile Health Scheme is providing medical cover to thousand and lakhs of people attending religious and social get together like Kanwar Sewa, Sant Nirankari Sammelan, Urs, Haj pilgrims, Republic Day celebration etc.

3. Delhi. G. Health Scheme: 


With an objective of providing better health facilities to the government employees and pensioners this scheme was initiated in 1997 with concept of providing health facilities equivalent to central government employees.


Under this scheme the employees are allotted health cards from their respective departments to use the benefit of free treatment in government recognized hospitals/dispensaries and in case of unavailability of treatment in govt. hospitals, then the beneficiary are free to go in private hospitals listed in the panel and claim reimbursement from the government.

4.Delhi Arogya Nidhi (DAN): 


State Illness Assistance Fund is established with an objective of providing financial assistance to the poor suffering from life threatening disorders in government hospitals. 


To provide financial assistance to such patients a society is established under society registration Act 1860 by the government of Delhi known Delhi Arogya Nidhi (DAN).
